Britain's restaurant sector is reporting its strongest April in five years, with reservation platforms recording a significant increase in bookings as consumer confidence shows tentative signs of recovery. Independent restaurants in London, Manchester and Bristol have seen the biggest uplift, with neighbourhood dining rooms and casual brunch spots performing particularly well. The British Restaurant Awards, for which Channel ONE Television UK is an official media partner, will take place later this year at Grosvenor House in London and is expected to draw the biggest names in British hospitality. Chef patrons across the country are cautiously optimistic about the remainder of 2026, though rising ingredient costs and recruitment challenges remain persistent concerns. The British Hospitality Association is urging the government to extend the reduced business rates relief scheme to provide further stability.
